2023 Hana 1Q K League 2 Round 4 Preview

league 2023.03.16   I   조회수 539

The second division will also pause for the international break. Coming up in Round 4 of the 2023 Hana 1Q K League 2 campaign, Busan IPark entertain Gimcheon Sangmu in a match between two of the division's unbeaten sides, Jeonnam Dragons host Gimpo FC looking for back-to-back wins, and Jonathan Moya of FC Anyang is on the hunt for a fourth goal contribution in as many games.

Match of the Round

Busan IPark vs Gimcheon Sangmu, Sun. 19th March - 13:30

Busan IPark and Gimcheon Sangmu both remain unbeaten in 2023. Both have played just two games having had to sit one round out each - Busan in Round 2 and Gimcheon in Round 3. Both have scored four goals from four different goal scorers but the difference, so far at least, is Gimcheon's sturdy defence which has meant only one goal conceded and the army side are two wins from two.

Sunday's meeting will be the first since October 31st 2021 when the two teams played out a 2-2 draw. Gimcheon had been two goals to the good but an An Byong-jun brace in the second half meant the spoils were shared. This followed a 6-0 Gimcheon win in Busan in August. Busan's last win over Gimcheon was on March 21st, 2021 with a scoreline of 2-1.

Gimcheon's average of two goals per 90 (four in total) is equal to that of Gyeongnam's six from three matches - the most in the division. Gimcheon have controlled large spells of their matches so far and have, on average, had 60% possession - also the most in the division. Busan's 51.9% puts them fifth in this regard. Gimcheon are productive with their passing, too, with the most passes completed per minute of possession at 16. Busan have shown themselves to be trigger-happy in front of goal, with 12.66 shots per 90 - the fourth-most in the division - and have had the most touches in the box.

Team of the Round

Jeonnam Dragons (vs. Gimpo FC, Sun. 19th March - 16:00)

After a 5-0 loss in the previous round, Jeonnam Dragons were able to bounce back last weekend and pick up their first win of the new season. The Dragons were in the capital to take on Seoul E-Land and an 82nd-minute strike from Brazilian attacking midfielder Valdívia was enough to seal all three points. Valdívia actually leads K League 1 for shots on target with five. But at Mokdong on Saturday, the Dragons' faithful will have felt their team could've scored more with 12 shots overall and eight finding the target. Up next for Jeonnam is Gimpo FC at home this Sunday. Jeonnam are yet to beat Gimpo FC in league play, though, having drawn three and lost one against the Gyeonggi Province outfit last season.

Player of the Round

Jonathan Moya, FC Anyang (vs. Seongnam FC)

FC Anyang have scored three goals so far this season, two of which were from Jonathan Moya. The first was a late, late winner away to Jeonnam Dragons on the opening day and the most recent broke the deadlock in the Line 4 Derby draw with Ansan Greeners. The Costa Rica international scored nine last term and this season is performing slightly above his xG of 1.55. He has had the most touches in the box so far with 18 and is joint-second for shots with nine. But it's not just scoring goals that means Moya is a key player for FC Anyang as his assist for Jo Seong-joon in the 1-1 draw with Seoul E-Land means he has had a hand in all three of the goals the Violets have scored in 2023. Up next for Moya and Anyang is Seongnam FC at home on Sunday.
