The fixtures continue to come thick and fast in K League 1 as we enter Round 21 of the campaign this weekend. Things kick off on Friday evening with a double-bill before two sets of matches on Saturday and Sunday. Here is K League United's guide to the upcoming action.

Friday 8th July

#GANvGIM: Gangwon FC (10th) Vs. Gimcheon Sangmu (9th) - 19:30 KST

Despite their best efforts, Gangwon FC were denied a third straight win as they fell in the final minutes to a resilient Ulsan Hyundai outfit. However, there were positives for Choi Yong-soo's side as recently signed Balša Sekulić opened his account for the club with just his second appearance since making the switch.

Gimcheon Sangmu, on the other hand, ended a ten-match winless streak in emphatic style as they saw off Jeju United by four goals to nil. Lee Yeong-jae, Kim Ji-hyeon, Kim Oh-gyu and Myung Joon-jae all made the scoresheet for the military side while top scorer Cho Gue-sung had to make do with just the assist for the second goal. Cho did get on the scoresheet the last time these two sides met though, converting the penalty in a 1-0 win.

#JEJvSFC: Jeju United (4th) Vs. Seongnam FC (12th) - 19:30

Having pushed for second only a few weeks ago, Jeju United have seen their recent form tail-off somewhat, going four league games without a win and just a point for their efforts. Nam Ki-il's side had to contend with a humbling 4-0 defeat to Gimcheon Sangmu midweek, having ceded a 2-0 lead the weekend prior to FC Seoul to draw two apiece. Jeju have conceded eleven times in the last four outings but may find encouragement when they face a Seongnam, who have just two points in their last six matches. The Magpies were also recipients of four goals having ceded their 1-0 lead to lose 4-1 to Pohang Steelers. The match also saw midfielder Kim Min-hyeok collect his fifth yellow card of the season, ruling him out of this encounter.

These two sides last met in May on Children's Day with Jeju coming out 2-1 victors thanks to goals from Jonathan Ring and Gerso Fernandes. Jeju also remained undefeated against the Magpies last season with their last defeat to them coming back in 2019.

Saturday 9th July

#JEOvINC: Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (2nd) Vs. Incheon United (5th) - 19:00 KST

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors maintained the pace with a 1-0 victory away to FC Seoul as they sought to match Ulsan Hyundai’s win from the day prior. In the end, it was a 54th minute Gustavo strike that proved the difference. The Brazilian forward took his tally up to five league goals for the season as he looks to rediscover the form that saw him find the net on 15 occasions in 2021. One of Gustavo's earlier efforts this season came against Saturday's opponents Incheon United, scoring the game's solitary goal to hand the Green Warriors the three points.

Incheon United head into this match off the back of a midweek defeat to Suwon FC, a result that follows back-to-back draws with form that has seen them slip to 5th. These two sides have faced each other on 50 occasions with Jeonbuk winning 20 to Incheon's 12. The last time Incheon won in Jeonju goes back to August 2015 when they recorded a tightly-contested 1-0 victory.

#DAEvULS: Daegu FC (7th) Vs. Ulsan Hyundai (1st) - 20:00 KST

Despite a man-advantage, Daegu FC were unable to maintain the one-goal lead midweek, dropping two points to Suwon Samsung Bluewings and denying themselves the opportunity to maintain a top-half position. 22 year-old defender Jo Jin-woo proved to be the scorer for the Sky Blues, bagging his second of the season and ultimately helping Daegu extend their current unbeaten run to 17 games across all competitions.

It took some last-minute heroics from Eom Won-sang once more, but Ulsan Hyundai were able to find the win to maintain their five-point gap at the top of the table as they sealed a 2-1 win against Gangwon. The Korean international has gone from strength-to-strength this season with this goal marking his ninth of the season and taking up to fourth in the Golden Boot race, ahead of teammate Leonardo who also found the net midweek. Ulsan saw off the threat of Daegu in their earlier meeting this season by three goals to one.

Sunday 9th July

#POHvSSB: Pohang Steelers (3rd) Vs. Suwon Samsung Bluewings (11th) - 19:00 KST

A resounding 4-1 win over Seongnam FC saw Pohang Steelers maintain their chase of the top two with goals from Heo Yong-jun, two from Kim Seung-dae and a fourth from Lim Sang-hyub. Kim Seung-dae will be the player the Bluewings will have their eye on, however, having scored four in his last two outings including a brace over league leaders and local rivals Ulsan Hyundai.

Suwon Samsung Bluewings saw themselves fight back from a goal down despite a man disadvantage to earn a draw against Daegu FC thanks to Oh Hyeong-gyu's third of the season. The match proved to be the Bluewings seventh game without a win in all competitions though and, having not beaten the Steelers in their last four encounters, may be of concern ahead of their journey south this weekend. They also make the trip without Jeong Ho-jin who's dismissal midweek means he is absent from the weekend's action.

The previous clash between this pair back in March saw Kim Gun-hee's penalty cancel out Lim Sang-hyub's opener.

#SUWvSEO: Suwon FC (6th) Vs. FC Seoul (8th) - 19:00 KST

Suwon FC climbed into sixth as they picked up their fourth win of a five-game unbeaten streak, a 1-0 victory over Incheon United with a 90th-minute winner coming courtesy of Urho Nissilä, his second for the club since making the move in the winter window. Seoul will be keeping their eyes on his teammate Lee Seung-woo though whose eight goals for the club, four in his last six, have been key to Kim Do-kyun's side's upturn in form.

FC Seoul extended their winless streak to 16 against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors when they played host midweek, losing 1-0 courtesy of a Gustavo effort. The capital side did have opportunities with Cho Young-wook and Ki Sung-yeung both striking the woodwork during the match but Seoul’s best efforts did not bear the fruit required to salvage a point. A win for Seoul would see them leapfrog their hosts and, having claimed a 3-1 victory against them earlier in the season, will be hoping that they can find another win this Sunday.
