Ansan Greeners star Asnawi Mangkualam on Friday helped guide Indonesia to victory in their AFF Championship opener against Cambodia.
Asnawi started and played 60 minutes as Indonesia picked up a 2-1 win over Cambodia in Group A.
For Cambodia it was their second match, the first ended in a victory making Indonesia's win all the more impressive.
Asnawi started at right back in a back four with Indonesia boss Shin Tae-yong opting for a 4-2-3-1 and even laid on a second assist or pre-assist - meaning he supplied the final ball before the assist - for Egy Maulana's goal in the seventh minute.
Hogging the touchline, Asnawi displayed determined wing play to move the ball up the flank, beating one defender, before crossing.
Pratama Ahran picked the ball up before sending in the cross for Indonesia's opener.
The 23-year-old showed 83% passing accuracy, 75% accuracy for his passes to the final third, and 73% accuracy for forward passes.
In terms of the defensive side to Asnawi's performance, he won 67% of both his defensive and aerial duels, made a successful sliding tackle, three interceptions, as well as one clearance.
The win over Cambodia was Asnawi's 21st cap for Indonesia.
The AFF Championship, or ASEAN Football Federation Championship, is contested by the men's national teams of the AFF to determine the sub-continental champion of Southeast Asia.
There are two groups, A and B, with Indonesia drawn into the former along with reigning champions Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, and Brunei.
