For the 12th year in a row, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has named K League as the top-ranked league in Asia.
According to the rankings on the IFFHS website this month, K League sits 18th and up four places from last year's 22nd. This is the highest of any league in Asia.
K League has now occupied IFFHS' top spot in Asia since 2011 and this year earned a score of 525.25 (18th) ahead of Japan's J.League with 402 (30th), Saudi Arabia's Saudi Pro League with 352.75 (40th), and Uzbekistan's Super League with 297 points (57th).
Meanwhile, Iran ranked fifth in Asia (63rd overall), UAE sixth (64th overall), Qatar seventh (67th overall), Thailand eighth (71st overall), and China ninth (74th overall)
Brazi's Serie A ranked first with 1,181 points, England's Premier League second with 1,086 points, and Spain's La Liga third with 967.5 points.
In terms of individual clubs, IFFHS has Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors as the top-ranked in Asia at 42nd. Meanwhile, Ulsan are 99th and Daegu FC 133rd for the top three K League teams.
Points for the ranking are calculated by adding together the total points (determined by wins, losses and draws) of the top five teams in each league and multiplying them by their FIFA coefficients.
