league 2021.06.17   I   조회수 919

Two K League 1 matches coming up this weekend, the rearranged Round 14 encounters between Gwangju FC and FC Seoul as well as Seongnam FC's trip to the Munsu to take on Ulsan Hyundai.

Saturday 19th June 2021 - 16:30 KST

#GWAvSEO: Gwangju FC (12th) vs FC Seoul (11th)

The bottom two collide on Saturday afternoon as Gwangju FC take on FC Seoul. Gwangju have lost four out of their last five and eight out of their last 10 and so will be desperate to pick up a first win since April when 11th placed FC Seoul make the trip south. FC Seoul make a first trip to Gwangju Football Stadium on the back of a 10-match win-less run, 11 in all competitions. However, with a glass half-full approach, Park Jin-sub's side have just one defeat from their last five matches due to draws against Suwon FC, Seongnam, Gangwon, and Daegu.

Gwangju have made the third-highest number of shots in K League 1 this term with 234 and second per 90 minutes. FC Seoul, meanwhile, are joint top for penalties awarded in K League 1 with Serbian attacking midfielder Aleksandar Paločević tucking away three of them - the most in the division. From 16 overall meetings, Gwangju have just two wins to Seoul's 11 and three draws. Just one of those wins came in the last 10 encounters with Seoul picking up eight wins and one draw. When these two sides met in March, it was Seoul who emerged as winners thanks to goals from Na Sang-ho and Ki Sung-yeung after Kim Ju-gong had given the Yellows the lead in the 37th minute.

#ULSvSFC: Ulsan Hyundai (1st) vs Seongnam FC (9th)

Before departing for the AFC Champions League Group Stage, current Asian champions Ulsan Hyundai will welcome the visit of Seongnam FC this Sunday afternoon. Ulsan are the division's most in-form team with four straight wins and unbeaten in eight. Hosts Seongnam, meanwhile, are without a win in their last seven league matches and sit ninth in the table heading into the weekend. A win for FC Seoul away to Gwangju on Saturday could see the Magpies slip to 11th.

The Horangi may be expected to shoot from long distance if their record so far this season is anything to go by. Ulsan have made the most shots in K League, per 90 minutes, and from open play and are second for shots outside the box. Hoping to keep Ulsan at bay will be Austrian defender Richard Windbichler who ranks third in K League 1 for aerial duels won. Ulsan have seven wins from their last 10 encounters with Seongnam, two defeats and a draw. The first meeting in 2021 ended with a 1-0 win to Ulsan, Lee Dong-jun scoring the game's only goal.
